Make your own Darth Vader Costume

Darth Vader is the first villain that comes to mind when the movie Star Wars is mentioned. This dastardly leader of the Dark Side is always a popular costume choice at Halloween and even comic and cosplay conventions. Rather than going out and spending a ton of money on a Darth Vader costume, save your money for the movies and create a blockbuster version at home.

Items needed to make your Darth Vader Costume

Items Needed:
Black pants
Black shirt
Paint pens
Black shoes
Several yards of black fabric
Black leather gloves
Darth Vader mask
Red light saber

Step 1: The beginnings of your Darth Vader costume starts with a pair of black pants and a long–sleeved black shirt. Use paint pens meant for fabric to sketch on the buttons and such found on the breastplate of Darth Vader’s outfit.

Step 2: Black leather gloves, preferably with gauntlets, and black boots will lend your costume an extra does of darkness.

Step 3: Darth Vader wears a cape that is full and reaches floor length making a rustling sound as he walks down the corridors of the Republic headquarters. You can make your own cape with an approximate 5–foot length of black fabric. Fold over the top about one inch and sew down near the edge. With a long strip of the black fabric, thread through the newly created casing and gather up. Tie around the neck.

Step 4: Every Darth Vader costume needs is iconic mask that both hides his burned face and instills fear with creepy breathing. This type of mask is quite intricate and it may be best to purchase pre–made. There are several awesome versions that have voice–changing capabilities.

Step 5: Darth Vader’s weapon of choice is a two–sided red light saber that he wields with great skill.
