Make your own Godfather Costume

If you are a big fan of the 1972 crime movie, “The Godfather”, you are not alone. Many believe this movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola and featuring many famous actors including Al Pacino, Marlon Brandon and more is one of the best movies of all time. For a fun costume that will make you fughettabout your real worries is to dress up as one of the gangster characters from the flick. If you can find a good pinstripe shirt, then the rest of a Godfather costume is easy to put into place.

Items needed to make your Godfather Costume

Items Needed:
Pin stripped suit
Black shirt
White or Red Tie
Fedora Hat
Fake mustache (optional)
Dark sunglasses
Gold jewelry, such as pinky ring

Step 1: Scour the vintage shops for a dark pin stripe suit. Choose a suit that fits the styles in the decade spanning 1945 to 1955, the time period that the Corleone family is chronicled in “The Godfather”. Under your suit wear a dark dress shirt and a white or red tie. If you don’t have the whole suit, you can make due with black jeans, a black t–shirt and a pin strip jacket. Dark dress shoes are the preferred footwear of a Godfather costume.

Step 2: Grease your hair back with hair gel and plop a dark felt fedora hat on your head, cocked slightly to one side like you are one cool SOB. If you like facial hair, then stick on a faux mustache or pencil one in.

Step 3: Accessorize your Godfather costume with accouterments that show you’re taking care of business. Toy machine guns and fake sawed off rifles will give you the hit–maker look you aspire to.

Step 4: Other clever accessories for your Godfather costume include dark sunglasses, gold jewelry such as a cigar, heavy chains and medallions around the neck and a gaudy little pinky ring. If you are going dressed as the Godfather, it would be funny to carry around a big cardboard cut out of a horse’s head.

Step 5: Not on the list of items needed, but you’ll certainly want to bring along a gorgeous Gun Moll to adorn your arm when you’re ready to hit the town.
