The Best Jafar Costumes Ideas

From the Disney animated movie “Aladdin” the character of Jafar is the sorcerer to the Sultan of Agrabah . The tail of Aladdin is very old (pre-Disney!) and is based the Arab folktale of Aladdin and the magic lamp from the book “One Thousand and One Nights”. This enduring childhood tale features the Jafar as an alleged great sorcerer who is really quite incompetent. There is a sequel to the Disney movie in which Jafar tries to kill Aladdin and take Jasmine, but ends up banished to a lamp in a far away desert.

A Jafar costume is the typical dress of an Arabian sorcerer, if you can call that typical. A black robe with red sleeves and sash around the waist will do nicely. A black and red cape and turban headpiece will lend an authentic touch. Also add the Cobra staff that gave Jafar all his powers. Have friends dress up as other characters in this ages old tale such as Aladdin, Jasmine and the Sultan.
